Produced by Jonathan & Frederick Kelly at Migrant Records, "Back in Chicago" marks a moment when Fletcher's lyricism took its next step forward. This song not only talks of love and loss, greed and industrialism both make their way into the imagery. The third verse of the song draws from the old Scottish folk song "MacPherson's Lament" illustrating a nightmarish scene in a swampy landscape.
